Backup Tech celebrates three brand new partners
The live events industry is full of passionate caring people who go above and beyond, and Backup Partners are a shining example of just that. During 2024, Backup welcomed three new companies to their list of partners, and it is our great pleasure to announce L-Acoustics, Platinum Partners, Chauvet Lighting, Gold Partners and Carallon, Sliver Partners.
The contribution that all Backup Tech partners make is testimony to the spirit of the industry and each company has its own unique reason for joining. The end result is the same: helping continue the amazing work Backup does to support industry family members when they need it most.
The first new partner to be introduced is L-Acoustics, a global leader in professional sound. Founded in 1984, L-Acoustics is driven by a singular vision: to connect people through the best shared sound experiences. This commitment to excellence has made them the preferred choice for the world’s most prestigious venues and events, while their groundbreaking innovations continue to define the future of professional audio. The company is also recognized for championing industry diversity, notably through their influential ‘Women in Pro Audio’ series.
“Live sound professionals are a valued and essential part of our community and ecosystem – they inspire our innovations and share our passion for connecting people through extraordinary experiences,” says Anne Hamlett, Chief People Officer at L-Acoustics. “Supporting Backup means supporting the very people who bring sound to life and make these meaningful connections possible.”
The second new partner is Chauvet Lighting. Chauvet Lighting is also a huge name in the industry, providing lighting fixtures, control systems and distribution across a whole range of applications. The company has supported Backup for many years, with sponsorship of Kartfest and Chauvet Lighting’s Sam Bowden is no stranger to fundraising, he raised over £15,000 for Backup in 2021 with his 101-mile light walk. Bowden reveals more about his respect for the work Backup does and the change it has made to the industry, through the important work completed.
“Backup is a fantastic charity that Chauvet Lighting have supported in many different ways over the years, from our 101-mile Light Walk to the coveted raffle prizes at the Village Fetes,” Bowden explains. “We feel strongly about looking after our industry family, every one of us knows someone who has benefited from the support that Backup offers. We couldn’t be happier to make our contributions more official with our Gold Level Partnership. We look forward to continuing our relationship and can’t wait to see what Backup have planned for 2025.”
The final brand-new partner to join the list of existing Backup partners is Carallon Ltd. Based in West London, Carallon is an employee-owned company of product designers, software developers and hardware engineers. They develop products for the entertainment industry and are specialists in control systems, working with clients to develop extraordinary solutions with cutting edge technology.
Sarah Darby, Chief People Officer of Carallon, explains why supporting Backup is an extension of the company’s values: “The idea to support Backup came through our Employee Council and the board agreed it was a natural fit. After over 20 years in the industry, we’re committed to long-term support not just for our own people, but beyond. Backup do amazing work and we’re excited to get started with raising both funds and awareness.”
L-Acoustics, Chauvet Lighting and Carallon join existing partners, Ambersphere, ETC, Neg Earth, Unusual, Christie Lites, TSL and 5 Star Cases.
Backup Partners are the backbone to the charity, their regular support ensures that work can continue every day to support more industry professionals, whether that is through grants or wellbeing related training. Backup’s work is instrumental to the industry and its partners are a huge part of making that happen. In addition, every new partner helps spread more awareness within our industry to those who might need help. Backup wants to say a massive thank you to all our partners and welcome our new partners to the Backup family.
